Sadie was found at 8 months old with a younger male companion.   Sadie was already pregnant and about to deliver when turned in to AARF Houston.   Sadie is a beautiful Shepherd/Hound mix.

Sadie had complications during labor, and had to have an emergency c-section after delivering 7 on her own.  One of the puppies was breach, blocking the way.  This puppy did not make it, but the 3 behind it survived.  Sadie was a GREAT mom to her 10 babies! Now she can relax and be the puppy that she is herself!

Sadie is now spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.

IMPORTANT..   Sadie is Not an older dog.  She is Tri-colored.  There’s a patch of white hair on her chest and some white hair is sprinkled in and around her nose.  The white on her nose is apparently making her look older…  Friends and neighbors who’ve seen her have assumed she is an “older” dog.   Just wanted to make everyone who meets her to be informed that Sadie is a very Young dog.  She is barely 3 years old….

Sadie is one of many dogs in foster care with Ms. Norma.  I requested taking her home for weekends to see how she was in a home environment with my two dogs and “cats”.   Her last offspring was recently adopted into his forever home…  Now it’s momma Sadie’s turn to find her own forever home….

Here’s what I’ve learned…..  She is really calm and ‘gentle’, even though she’s fairly young.…   I brought her home and she met my two dogs, she explored the house for a while and then settled in...   All three dogs got along like old friends within a short time…  She LOVES to hang out at the front gate with my dogs to check out the world…   She is a quiet little girl, but she will bark protectively if she feels there’s a need.   And even though she’s a medium sized dog… she has that super deep, Big dog bark that’s really cool….

Sadie is very endearing…  I noticed she stays close by me…  No matter what room I’m in…she’s not far away, laying on the floor..   She loves chilling on the sofa….or close by me on her doggy bed…  Sadie is extremely intelligent…  Even though she likes to lay back and chill…  She watches and is taking in information all the time…  Smart little girl…!!!!

Sadie jumps for joy at meal time…  She bounces and trots all the way to her crate….  It is the cutest thing…!!!!

I believe Sadie would be awesome with children of any age….because of how calm, easygoing  and playful she is…  She Loves people.  Loves kids....!!!!

Sadie is the BEST dog I have ever walked and yes...that includes my own dogs…!!!  She sniffs and explores and walks  -  She Never pulls!!   We passed by three barking dogs who would have caused any dog to react..  Sadie never flinched… Not even a little....
Because of how easy she is on walks…I feel she would also be great for an
older person..  I am middle aged with a knee injury that doesn’t allow me to jog as much as I’d like to...  She just goes with ‘my flow’…  When I can jog, she jogs and when I can’t…she seems fine just walking next to me…  So cool!!!!

Sadie loves to play chase…!!!!  I don’t think she’s had a chance to learn to fetch and I am trying to teach her..  But when we play chase….   I run all around in my backyard and to the front with Sadie chasing me…  When she catches up…she waits for my next move…  She plays like a puppy….*smile*   What I saw in bringing her home is how she started showing more and more of her personality….    A very intelligent, easy going, sweet dog with a fun, playful side…

I am also a cat owner and this was the one area of concern.  Sadie ‘may not’  be good with cats...  I have a mellow, easy going Maine Coon who lives with my two dogs and he is great around the dogs…  But when Sadie saw him, she became totally focused on him and tried get to him – causing the Maine Coon to hiss, puff up and run away…   So other than possibly not being okay around cats…..she is absolutely GREAT in any other setting…

Sadie has the deepest eyes….*smile*   Her eyes remind me of the vintage actresses from the 1940s…Lauren Becall, Bette Davis, etc..  Deep and thoughtful….and beautiful…!!!!

She is so loving and so in tuned….   She took such great care of her 10 puppies through some tough moments.  And they ALL have their forever homes.  It is now Sadie’s turn to find her very own family and her forever home.    She would make anyone an AWESOME family member…
