Rosie is an incredibly sweet, loving dog rescued from the Sam Houston Tollway. She was hit by a car and sustained pelvic injuries and couldn’t walk for a time. She was lactating at the time but no puppies were with her; though she was found with another dog. After lots of veterinary care and TLC, she has recovered 100% and is a happy, active, healthy dog. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. After she recuperated, her best friend, the second rescued dog, found his forever home.

While she and our older dog are buddies, it’s not as fun as having another younger dog to play with. She wouldn't need a companion dog, though, as long as she gets quality time with her people. She really is a people dog!

She is about 3 years old, 55 pounds; a knee-licker (or whatever she can reach) who wants to be your new best friend. She is crate and house trained. She walks well on a leash, except she sometimes barks at strange dogs out on a walk, and wishes she could catch some squirrels. She is initially a little hesitant around new people but will gladly give you a tentative lick. She has been around polite kids of all ages and has always behaved well. If you have a dog, the odds are she will bark at it in the beginning until she's had a chance to realize this could be a new playmate. Then they will be friends for life. Unfortunately Rosie loves to chase cats. Since we have several indoor cats (and a feral colony that lives outside) we cannot keep her.

We’ve been working with Rosie and she easily learned Sit and Shake Paw. She responds very well to “Leave it” for squirrels, outdoor cats and, usually, other dogs. We have been working on a few other commands like Stay. She really enjoys praise and wants to make us happy. She is so lovable. She’d probably make a great water dog, since she loves to wade into a fountain/pond we have in our subdivision. She lives for the 3 walks we give her a day and would really enjoy hikes or walks. She has lots of energy, but is well behaved indoors (except around cats!). She loves to chew, so she has a big selection of chew toys to choose from. Unfortunately she has to live in one room of our house because of our cats and is lonely.

Rose was initially heartworm positive, but after treatment she has tested negative for heartworms. The heartworms never affected her ability to run and play at all.

This is a sweet dog that deserves a second chance with a family who will adore her! She is up for any adventure!

Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area.  Please call for specific locations.

Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.

Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events.  Thank you for considering a rescue!

It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.

Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
