Bruiser is a unique combination of Pug and Shepherd. He is a compact package for sure.
He was owner surrendered with severe anxiety and lack of confidence. His previous owner left him crated for long periods of time and didn't socialize him.
Bruiser has made vast improvements and is learning boundaries as well as gaining confidence. He is anxious for acceptance and assurance that he is a good boy. Bruiser will now willingly go to his crate when he gets anxious and has learned it is a place of safety rather than torture.
Bruiser has never once had an accident in the house since he has been with his foster. He does have access to a doggie door during the day.
He is crate trained, although he prefers to be with his family. He is not destructive at all when left out. He does still have a little separation anxiety but has quickly adjusted to the routines in the house and expects to have quite time in his crate throughout the day without issue.
Bruiser will need additional training, but has come a very long way in a very short time. We attribute this quick transition with the fact that he has other dogs to learn from.
He is very affectionate and will come to his mom several times a day to make sure that all is well, and that she is still around. A quick love and off he goes again. We are very proud of his progress.
His perfect home will be with An active family with older children. Preferably with a stay at home mom or dad and at least one other dog his activity and size.
Bruiser is ready for you.

It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others.
AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
