In need of a small dog, who will hang out with you on the couch? That's me! I'm Spike. I am 4 1/2 years young. Let me tell you a little about my past. I was lucky enough to find my way to the home of one of the directors, skinny & very sick. I wasn't even there 20 minutes before I was rushed to the vet. The vet said that I had an enlarged prostate, & I am heartworm positive.
It took a while, but I am much better now. They are slowly treating me for the heartworms, & my prostate problems are all gone. I just need to be on a special diet from now on, to keep the problems from coming back.
Enough about the past, lets talk about me, you & the future!
When it comes to me, I am housetrained, & crate trained. When your home though, I want to be with you, & let you know that too.
My foster mom's house isn't very cat friendly, so I haven't been cat tested/cat approved. I am ok with other dogs, as they understand that I can be a little bossy. I don't like to share my food with other dogs, but I will happily share it with you.
I know how to sit, can catch treats in the air (as long as they aren't little bitty), lay down, & I go to the crate when my foster mom tells me.
My favorite things to do: snuggle, get treats, go for walks & car rides, & work on tricks. (My foster mom says that I am a pretty quick learner).

The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip.
Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old.
It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others.
