Caramel was 1 of 3 orphaned pups. She was the only one who survived being dumped on the side of the road the day she was born. She has had no problem keeping up with her foster brothers and sisters. Her best feature is definitely her little hooked tail. Our best guess is that she is mixed with shar pei because of her wrinkles on her face and head, but we also think she may have some German shepherd in her. Also hook tails are apparently not uncommon of the Shar Pei breed.
Update: All of Caramel's brothers and sisters have been adopted. She is the last puppy left. She is almost 5 months and would like to find a home of her own! Caramel is crate trained, and almost fully potty trained. She had a whole week with no accidents! She walks great on a leash, and loves kids. She is energetic and would make a great running partner, or a great companion to kids who love to play! She gets along great with other dogs (big and small), but can be shy around humans. Once she warms up to you, she does not leave your side! She is sweet, energetic, and very smart! If these are characteristics you're looking for in a dog please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting this sweet girl.
Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue!

It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others.
AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
