Monroe is a shy at first, but once he gets to know you his playful personality comes out. He is energetic and loves to play with balls and toys. Monroe is generally non-reactive towards other dogs, unless he is crated and the other dog is loose.
Monroe is currently in boarding and would love a FOSTER or FOREVER home where he can show his sweet nature. He will need some attention to his housetraining.
Monroe got a chance to visit a local dog park on 8/30/2014 and what a WONDERFUL experience! Monroe walked nicely on his leash until he was at the lake. When his leash was removed, he looked a little uncertain, and then tested the water. The pure joy on his face was unbelievable - - he jumped in the water and splashed around, then ran out and around the park and back. He took a flying leap in the water! He made a few new friends, but was just so happy and excited and free to enjoy running around the park and playing in the water. When the outing was over, he jumped in the back of the car and rolled over on his back exhausted with such a happy expression. Monroe is definitely a water dog!
Monroe's second trip to the dog park was exciting for him, and a bit scary for me. There were alot of dogs this time around and Monroe enjoyed meeting each one that came up to him! When we got to the water, all the dogs were just kind of standing around. As soon as I took Monroe's leash off, he took a flying leap in the water, splashed around for a time, then took off running around the dog park. Next thing I knew, there was about 10 dogs racing around with him! I was scared that he was going to cause a riot, but all the dogs were having a great time. Not one disagreement among them and lots of wagging tails.
